The Advantages of Mohs'
Mohs' surgery has an up to 99% cure rate for skin cancers that have not been previously treated. The cure rate for skin cancer that has recurred after treatment is up to 94%. Furthermore, it is a very precise procedure; the surgeon will examine all of the tumor margins, spare the healthy tissue, and leave the smallest scar possible. In most cases, it is a single-visit, outpatient surgery.
Who Is a Candidate?
Mohs' surgery is recommended for patients with many types of basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) and squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs), two of the most common varieties of skin cancer. If you have BCCs or SCCs that are large, growing rapidly, aggressive, indistinct, or recurring, Mohs' may be right for you. It may also be recommended for certain cases of melanoma.
The procedure is suitable for both areas of cosmetic concern and functionally important areas like the eyes, lips, fingers, and so on. Contact our clinic to schedule an appointment and learn whether Mohs' surgery is appropriate for you.
